Froggie

This is me, in bed, until about an hour before I go to sleep. "oooh my tummy is sick" LOL
Last night I talked with the daughter of a friend at work. She’s due January 19th, and she told me to call her if I had questions about anything because she’s read so many books already. She was extremely nice.
After that I sat on the couch while Gabe played his xbox and read one of my preggo books. I felt a lot better because a lot of stuff I’m feeling is really normal.
Today has been a stressful day at work, but I’m staying positive. I keep reminding myself that I have a date with my Jelly on Thursday to listen to his/her heart. Unfortunately Gabe won’t make it to that one. Too much going on at work.

Happy Birthday Carlos!

Today is Carlos, our nephew's, birthday! He is 6!! Crazy how time flies!!!

This photo is from his birthday last year. It's one of my favorite photos. I remember watching them together and listening to Gabe read him a bed time story and thinking how great it will be when we have kids. :)

I wish we could see little Carlos today and give him a big hug and kiss. They live in California. But Nani and Tata are visiting with him today, and I'm sure they'll give him lots of love for us.

It continued.

Today was AWFUL.

We woke up late again and I was already sick. I knew I should eat but nothing sounded good, except toast. Gabe felt like pancakes so I suggested IHOP. Big mistake. I ordered scrambled eggs with hash browns and toast. I ate the toast but only a few bites of the other stuff. I couldn't look at Gabe's plate. He does this thing where he mixes all of his food. Runny eggs (that was the worst part), cornbeef hash, and hash browns all mixed up. It took my all...

He ate that, pancakes, and the rest of my food. God bess him.

We went over to Gabe's parent's house to check on the cats while they're away. We stayed there for a few hours watching tv. He found saltine crackers, and they were amazing. I felt a lot better and was able to eat some soup and toast when we got home. LOL yay for soup!! :)

I feel blessed to have my Jelly. Even with all the sickies, I thank God that I have him/her and I just pray that Jelly comes out healthy and strong.

Definitely feelin' it...

Last night was so nice! I got to hang out with my Nichole finally! Things have been so hectic, and all I've been able to do is sleep lately. We caught up, and so did the boys. :) great night.

Today, I wasn't so lucky. We woke up late, which was nice, but by the time we got to Miami to visit with Mom, Beck, Julie and Jay, I was so sick. I couldn't stand to even eat the bread on the table while they ate lunch. The smells made me worse. I sipped ice water and chewed a piece of gum.

We decided to walk around Lincoln Road and see the shops. It was so hot, I felt so bad I just wasn't able to do it. We went in to Ghirardelli cooled off, and decided it was time for me to go home. :( I felt bad.

We ended the night by watching 2 movies, and I didn't want to leave the bed.

Week 7

"With your child's biggest growth spurt until puberty, the embryo more than doubles in size from .16 to .44 inches. The legs and arms extend and grow from the torso and the heart divides into right and left chambers. The forebrain also divides into two hemispheres. "

and "Your baby has slightly webbed fingers and toes." awe, a little froggie. :)

I can't wait until the next ultrasound on Thursday!!! She wanted me to come back and hear the heart. She said I would be surprised at how different the baby will look already!! Hurry up Thursday!! :)

Loss of a Legend

First - SO SAD about Michael Jackson. He died today. I maintained a love for him through today!! Just separate the personal life from the star that he was. He was simply amazing. I have amazing memories of my sisters and me dancing to his albums, and watching Moonwalker. “It’s just a Plug.” A lady in the office brought in 2 of these dolls. She’s a major collector of memorabilia. I bet eBay will be bananas now. It’s amazing that it took his death for people to remember how great he was.

I had my interview for the bakery too. It went ok. I’m not expecting to win it, but it would be nice. They asked a lot of questions. They were intense, and seemed to be really busy. All in all, I didn’t analyze it (surprise surprise!) Whatever happens is supposed to happen.
Gabe was adorable though. When he got home I said “I didn’t win, Daddy.” He put his hand on my belly and said “You already won, Mama. You won this! Be happy.” And just like that, I was ecstatic again. Thrilled to have my Jellyfish.

Baby Luck

"this baby will bring all kinds of luck, you'll see" ~granny

I think she was on to something! yesterday, I got a call from the retail space giveaway contest that I had entered a while ago... I'm in the top 10 finalists and they want to interview me on the phone Thursday!!!!! I might just get what I wish for this year!! My Bakery!!!! Dad better check that lotto ticket I bought for him on Father's day!!! LOL

After an extremely rude comment yesterday about me "looking huge" (no joke, someone actually said that to me...) I am eating fruit for breakfast. with chocolate milk. lol hey! it's a great substitute for coffee, and I'm drinking milk!

PHOTOS!!!

We could see the little heart beat!!!! awe!!! OK, so the sonogram lady confirmed. 6 week munchkin, 8 week mama. She said the baby is the size of a grain of rice. Gabe said Jasmine rice when he looked at the photos. LOL cute.
if anyone would like to see the real photos, they will be framed shortly. :)

Girl vs. Boy

According to mom, since there hasn't been any morning sickness (knock on wood) yet, she thinks Jelly will be a boy.

According to this Chinese Conception Gender Chart - we should be having a girl.

According to Madame Zaritzka "The day you deliver, outside will be sunny. Your baby will arrive in the early morning. After a labor lasting approximately 9 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 13 pounds, 9 ounces, and will be 19,19-1/2 inches long. This child will have light amber eyes and fluffy black hair."

.......in which case I am in serious trouble. 13 pounds 9 ounces!!! are you kidding me!!! I agree with the fluffy black hair bit though.

Gabe and I both don't really care what Jelly will be, we just want healthy. But I think Gabe would prefer a girl.

What do you think? Boy or girl??

Gestation

WOW, I just figured it out. LOL

I was reading this book and it said that the gestational age is 2 weeks less than how far along I am.

See, the first doctor I went to said 6 weeks - and before I knew it i was already back in my car he rushed me out. I had to call back to ask when I was due. then the next day, I had that sonogram, and she said that I only measured 4 weeks. so I was really confused. now it makes more sense. I was 6 weeks along and the gestation was 4 weeks. they're really terrible with first-time moms!! I feel like I know nothing! I'm reading a lot, but I'm glad I'm going to see my real doctor on the 7th.

so here we are 2 weeks later, I think I'm 8 weeks along with a 6 week fish. no? Oh Lord... Let's ask tomorrow at the next sonogram.

Happy Father's Day

Gabe is getting ready for the baby. :)
We went all over looking at baby furnature with mom, Julie, and Beckala. We started at Ikea, then to Buy Buy Baby, then Macy's, then JC Penny, and decided in the end that Ikea was the place to go. We had a lot of fun oohing and aawweing.
had a lovely father's day dinner with my dad and rested the rest of the day. It was a lovely weekend!

Easter Seals Bowling Charity

Today we delivered the 215 cookies we made (all 3 of us, thanks for your help Pop!) They were shaped like bowling pins and balls. Daddy bowled for us because I wasn't sure I should be lifting. I know, a little over-cautious, but I was told nothing over a gallon of milk (weight wise). I want my jelly safe. So, we watched Gabby bowl his heart out.
you like the fancy kicks? :)

Need a New Name!!!

Jelly isn't so jelly anymore! I might need a new name soon. :) I can't believe all the development already! I still feel normal so I guess I expected the baby to stay put. LOL

there's a little person in me!! awe! I feel all emotional today!

Funny Preggo Shirts

We are definitely looking forward to the weekend.
This was a very, very long week indeed.
I had another bad dream last night, but went to bed very early. Tonight we're going to take it easy, I need to finish up the cookies for tomorrow's event. Beck will be in town, I'm excited to see her!
I think I'm loosing it a little though... I called to order a bagel this morning... I dialed Gabe's number. He answered, and I asked if it was Tina's (the name of the cafe) Gabe said "who you callin Tina?!" LOL oh boy... I can't wait to see my pillow again! :)

Cranky

Yeah, that's a nickel. That's the size of the vitamins I'm taking. LOL Horse pills.

Today I am cranky. It's a mixture of not enough sleep (or good sleep for that matter, I've been tossing and turning, and having weirdo dreams.) and just ready to be done with the work week. so ready to just relax....

this morning I wanted cream cheese like you wouldn't believe. I still do actually, but I think I've had my quota. I also decided that I wanted pickles with my cream cheese. yeah......
Grandma is Jewish, so I LOVE pickles, but as breakfast? never. LOL oh Jelly - hang on :) that was pretty gross. sorry!

to-do list!

A friend at work left this huggies coupon on my desk. It’s to stock up “before the economy gets any worse” haha too cute.

Last night we got some foods and watched a movie (doomsday – I highly don’t recommend it), and I fell asleep early. Seems to be the theme of the week.

I have a cookie order (250 cookies to be exact), wedding photos to clean up and put on a disc, and a million ebay things to ship this week… and I really need to get motivated! All I want to do is be laaazy….
I will do what I can, but I won't over do it. :) need to be careful these days....

More Pregnant.

I just got the results form my Friday blood test and I am indeed more pregnant than I was before. LOL My hormone level did rise like it was supposed to. Yay! all is good in the tummy! Next up: ultrasound on the 23rd. Yippie!!
Food was tough this morning. I don't think the baby wanted ANYTHING and then all of a sudden, I wanted everything. I ate the rest of the bagel s/he didn't want with peanut butter. I feel a lot better!
I walked around the neighborhood a little last night too. I was proud of me. :) lol I plan to do it often.
I got the funny tips here.

Sleep

I read this today:

"During the next few days, your baby's heart will start early contractions, which later become distinct beats. By the end of the third week of gestation (five weeks in menstrual age) the length of the embryo is about 1.5 to 2 millimeters long. All of your baby's major organs are under development, and facial features, such as ears and eyes, begin to form. The neural tube, which will later be referred to as the spinal cord, will fuse this week. And buds appear that will soon be the arms and legs. No wonder you are so tired!"

So much happening this week! this could explain why I went to bed AGAIN last night at around 6. All I want to do is sleep lately! I need to get active! Yes, tonight we walk. even if it's just for a little.

5 weeks!

Gee finally wrote in the blog this morning, yay! we went for breakfast and decided to kill some time before our movie by popping over to target and looking through the once forbidden baby aisles. :)
nice relaxing day to kick off the baby's 5th week in the tummy!

Wedding

today, Jelly and I took photos for a friend's wedding. We stayed hydrated but ran around a little too much. by the time I got home all I wanted was sleep. I went to bed at 6pm and didn't get back up until 7 the next morning.

MY WORD! You're pregnant! Congratulations to the utmost!

Keep the blogging going! I really want to be updated about everything. That little jellyfish is growing and becoming a real live person in there. That's about as close to magic as the real world can get.

Holy Guacamole! I feel like I need to give advice. Listen to Nichole! Work toward ever-improving states of physical and emotional health. Eat all the vitamins you can find. No tequila for you, now. Or gin. Bathe in canola oil, or something. Listen to lots of classical music; I've heard of some pregnant mothers going so far as to put headphones on their bloated bellies. Consider pilates!
Long term advice: Stock up on large safety pins -- you need those for the diapers, I hear. Get non-lead-based paints! You'll probably want some kind of sippy cup. Tissues for the insides of your bras, too, or you'll be leaking all over the place. And... A telephone book if you don't already have one, so the thing can sit on chairs at the table. That should just about prepare you until the thing can take care of itself.
Oh, and maybe some kind of scholarship fund. A tricycle, too. Insurance? A helmet!
I think I've been conclusive. Did I get everything? Maybe I'm missing something. Did I say a sippy cup? Oh, I did.
But genuinely and deeply, Liz: Congratulations to you and Gabe. You'll be fine. You'll be great! I can't wait to hear more.
Joe

Reaction - Phil and Dave

Phil and Dave were the last of our friends to find out. Dave asked what our Big News was, and I told him that he already knew... he said "you're preggers." yep :) congrats and the usual questions followed. Phil said something about how we're only 15 or something... I think he feels old.. awe, no worries Uncle Phil. But again, love all around. We couldn't stay out and celebrate long because I had a big day ahead of me and needed my sleep.

TGIF

phew! We made it through the first work week!

We got to tell the rest of the familia last night. :) I'm gonna let Daddy write all about it. Memories! lol

Today we give more blood to check to make sure I'm getting more pregnant. :) they want to see that some hormone level is rising. Anything for you, munchkin.

Tonight, Julie asked all of our friends to get together so that we can share our news with them. I bet they'll be shocked!

E-mail Love

"I just told Mary, she is trilled for you. Said all the same things, every baby brings luck, no perfect time, its a gift and a precious one, be healthy. You need to remember where we come from, big family were part of our lives, in fact my Mom told me I was very jealous that Mrs Gaffney had twins, we should have been given one of those babies, I couldn't understand why she got 2 and we got none, I was 8." ~Mom

"Oh poodle!! My mom just heard the news from your mom! CONGRATES!!!!!!!! You’ve been wanting this for a long time! I know not everyone knows just yet so no worries, it’s in the vault. I’m sooo happy for your guys dude!!! best of luck!!! " ~ Gracie

"WHAT!!!! Liz!!!
Awww!! Congratulations!! I wish I could give you a big hug and kiss right now!
How far along? Oh my God, you are officially my first friend to be preggers. I'm gonna cry. (happy cry)." ~ Mari

"Just heard the good news I am so very happy for you guys, I told your Mom she is going to have to share…LOL" ~ Rosalie

"i am happy for you both and will keep you in my prayers each day that you have a healthy and great pregnancy....and get ready to welcome the new little zavala into the world next year....a wedding, a new baby....we have alot to celebrate in the months ahead!
you and gee are going to be Great Parents!" ~ Mom Z

Reaction - The Boys

Although I wanted to tell all the boys simultaneously, the beans had already been spilled to Ryan (my circle of trust was still on lock down ;) )but it ended up working out to my advantage. Ryan, who has a way of annoying the boys into doing something, actually managed to pull Erik and Steve away from game 4 of the NBA finals long enough to get on xbox for what he said was "something really important". When we all signed on I had decided to write "Baby" where my clan tag was to see if anyone would figure it out, but due to Ryan's persistence everyone initially though it was he who had major news to tell us. As we all eventually signed on Steve bust out hysterically laughing at my tag name thinking i was guessing why Ryan had brought us all on. Immediately Steve changed his clan name to "Asby" (one of Ryan's lame baby names), responded by saying "Ryan better be telling us Jessie is pregnant... the freaking Magic are on", to which i replied " no you idiots...its me!"

"WHAT?!"

"Holy Crap"

"Congrats"

"Your not shooting blanks!"

"Who's the Father?"

"Awesome"

"now we all have to get started"

"apparently now were telling each other life changes through xbox"

Just the reactions I expected but none the less they were all excited especially Ryan who insisted that all the boys have to start getting there wives pregnant and move to Orlando so we can raise our Kids together on the same street like we did. (Yeah right huh Liz).

Flo - "Yeah"

Reaction - Nani and Tata

As I began to tell my mom the news, which i started out with " mom................... you know God always has a plan............." to which she got really scared the confused. I quickly responded with "someone we know is pregnant", she looked over at Liz and said "Lizzy?!" to which she grinned and nodded " Oh!" "Congratulations!" then gave both of us a big hug, Liz got mom to pose with this baby out fit that she actually bought for her friend that had a baby, but she thought it was fitting that we take it with her for our blog.

Dad had just got back from a business trip and was i think half awake when mom first handed me the phone. I had to repeat myself like ten times before he understood me when i was saying "your going to have a boo #2", I don't think he got it right away but eventually he caught on. "Lizzy's pregnant!" "No Sh*t" "Alright gee gee!". Its official!! the rest of the Beans have been spilled. :)

Awe!

Today the office really showed me some love. :)

I came in and Tim had baked me a cake to celebrate! it was SO Yum! but I only had a few bites, I gotta watch what the jellyfish is eating and I don't think a Canoli cake for breakfast is on the menu!! I'll bring it to Daddy tonight. He'll enjoy it for us.

THEN Linda came in and brought me a book. "what to expect when you're expecting" she's so sweet. Her daughter found me on babyfit.com and they both have been SO incredibly nice.
Tonight we get to tell Gayle and hopefully we'll be able to call his family with her. :) I can't wait!

Reaction - Julie and Jay (Aunt and Uncle!!!!)

I have to say – the best reaction so far has been Julie.

I lied. I told her that I had a meeting with the people from a retail space giveaway contest that I had entered for my bakery. I told her that I’d be in the area and wanted to come by. I told her this because I usually don’t visit on a weeknight and didn’t want to spill the beans on the phone.

I got there, and she had just woke up from a nap. Poor thing works like crazy lately.

I said “you know I’m not here for the retail thing right?”
“noo…. What’s going on?” (she woke up now)
“I have some news” smile…….
“Are you pregnant?? OH MY GOD YOU’RE PREGNANT!’

She then ran over and almost knocked me down. I started hysterically crying then she cried and Jay came over and we had a group hug. Haha!!

They're so sweet. Very happy and excited for us. We looked at baby aps for the iphone and talked a while and then I made my trip back home. I’m really glad I decided to tell them in person. It wouldn’t have been the same on the phone.

YAY! Aunt Julie and Uncle Jay! I'm so glad for them!

Reaction - Beckala (Auntie!)

Beckala: Dad was in the shower when I got there. So we called Beckala while we waited. I said “hey remember that chili pepper costume you bought for us a while ago? Yeah, the one for our future baby? We’re going to probably be using it next Halloween.”

“NOOOOOOO” and a lot of inaudible screams followed. Mom could hear her from across the room. She was super excited and happy. Yay! Auntie Beckala (although, she doesn’t want to be called Aunt… we’ll have to find another name for her.)

Reaction - Granny and Granda Richko

Yesterday at work, Mom started to ask me how my doctor appointment went. She was referring to something else I had scheduled, but I couldn’t tell her that I canceled it and went to the sonogram instead!!

I tried to dance around it but in the end I asked to come see her for dinner. When she got there she was smiling, and I had a feeling she already knew. We sat down and I told her that I saw a different doctor… and smiled and she said “you’re pregnant” and jumped up and hugged me. We both got a little teary-eyed. It was sweet. We spent the rest of dinner talking about what to expect and reminiscing about when she was pregnant.

I’m SO glad to have my mom. I know I’m going to need her a lot. Plus, I talk to her literally every day, this is a HUGE thing, and I’m grateful to have her.

I asked whether we should tell dad or wait until father’s day. She said that she couldn’t keep this a secret until then, and I didn’t blame her, so we went back to her house to deliver the news.

Dad guessed right away. He said “what’s going on?” Mom said “Liz has some news” and he automatically knew. He gave me a bear hug and was thrilled. He’s going to be a great Grandpa – or G-Man as he would like to be called… not sure about that one yet. Haha!

Oye

This is KILLING ME not telling our moms...

I talk to mine on email every day. literally. this is the hardest secret I think I've ever had to keep!!!!!

Doing well

I ate yogurt for breakfast. Yuck. but I do it for you Jellyfish. well actually... I read today that Jellyfish is the size of a poppy seed! tiny! I also read this: "Meanwhile, your body may begin exhibiting pregnancy symptoms like bloating, cramping, and mood swings that feel similar to premenstrual symptoms. You might also experience implantation bleeding , a common (and harmless) light pink, red, or brown spotting that can occur when the egg settles into your uterus. " I had one weirdo spot last saturday, and I've been cramping since then. I mentioned this to my doctor on Monday, he didn't mention that stuff, he just sent me for a sonogram to make sure everything was ok. :-/ Freaked me out is what he did! oh well, all is good with Jelly, and I feel great today! I'm still going through caffine withdrawl but other than that, morning sickness hasn't set in yet. I'm just happy. Happy, Happy, Happy!

Reactions - Nichole

Nichole:

I emailed Nichole and told her that I needed to see her in person to tell her something that was kinda big. I think I scared her half to death.

We planned to meet for yoga at 8, but by 4:30, I was so tired! I had been up since 5:30ish getting nervous about the sonogram. So I emailed her and told her to call me because I was way too tired and wouldn’t make it to yoga.

I had been talking about Jellyfish on my Facebook page a lot, and really playing around with her. I confused the hell out of her. It was cute. So when she called I said… “sooooo you know how I’ve been talking about Jellyfish a lot lately? Welllll that’s because that’s what the baby in my tummy looks like right now.”

The longest gasp ever. LOL

We talked for a while and she went into full Nichole mode. I’m so glad for her, she’s already sending me articles and yelling at me to walk. Haha yelling in a good way. I need the kick in the ass, so thank you! Love you to pieces!

First Sonogram!

This is me waiting for our first sonogram. Turns out I'm only 4 weeks, and everything looks as good as it can, only teeny tiny. Gabe came too, and I was glad. We're due for another blood test on Friday and another sonogram in 2 weeks to be sure we're progressing nicely. Me and my jellyfish. So far I feel great. Well, I guess I should huh? I'm only 4 weeks. all I feel is tired! My name has been changed in the office. It was "Zavala" now it's "Lil Momma" everyone is so excited :-D

Reactions - Jessie

Jessie:
I texted Jess and asked her to call me when she had time to talk because I had something to tell her. I figured I wouldn’t be able to tell her in person until… August! When she came down again, so I should tell her on the phone.

She called, and I asked “would you rather know a secret that you have to keep until after Father’s Day, or know there’s a secret until then and me not tell you?”

After a pause she said “Are you pregnant?”

Amazing!! LOL she said she was thinking about it. Very cute. We had a nice talk. She’s super excited too! Later, she told me that she was telling everyone at work because she had to tell someone but coudn't tell people we knew. LOL Love you Jess. You're the best. :)

Our First Doctor Visit

We had our first pregnancy visit with Dr. Gordon. in and out. the office was WAY busy. I had a ton of questions when I got back to the car. Thank God for the internet (and my moms soon, I can't wait to tell them, I hope they're as excited as I am.) Although we're going through foreclosure and didn't really plan for this Jellyfish (that's what the baby looks like right now, a little squiggle of a jellyfish) I can't see how it won't be welcomed with lots and lots of love. Jellyfish will be my parents' first grandbaby and Gabe's parents' second. The doctor's office was nice enough to send me on my way with a huge bag of vitamins and an organizer.

Reactions - Gabe, Daddy to be!

Gabe:

We went to Walmart to pick up shipping supplies for a bunch of stuff that I sold on ebay. I had taken a test last Sunday when I had that funny spot and the cramping started but nothing else came.... (I probably take 2 a month on average, bad habit - I just want to be sure not to drink or anything bad, I'm slightly paranoid about that) that one was negative of course. So I decided to just get another pack for the fun of it I guess, not really expecting much.

The lady at the check out counter called it. so funny. She said "you pregnant. everyone I know pregnant this year, girl, you pregnant." LOL I smiled and went on my way.

Got home and casually said "I'm gonna go pee on my stick" or something vulgar like that, and before it reached eye-level, there were 2 lines looking back at me.

I said "Gabe......................" in a shaky voice. thump, thump, thump, he ran in (literally ran LOL) "oh my God you're pregnant???"

he stared at me and I stared at him for a few minutes. :) I just kept repeating over and over "Gabe, I'm pregnant." As if trying to convince myself really.

A mixture of Fear and excitement. (more excitement and happiness!)

Oh my GOD, we're pregnant!

Holy Mary mother of God. We're pregnant. We stopped trying, and it happened. I found out at 2:30 ish Sunday afternoon. we met Gabe's parents an HOUR later. It took my all to act normal and say nothing. We wanted to be sure we were before we sounded the alarm. When we got home, we spent the rest of the night on the internet looking at things I couldn't eat and figuring out my due date. It was EXACTLY one year ago that I had a biopsy of my uterus to make sure we could have babies... crazy huh? Well, I hope our parents understand why we are waiting to tell everyone (them) and that they're excited. I know there will be a lot of questions and worries, but I pray that the overall feeling is happy!
