First night - September 7-8th
Gabe and I we're scared to sleep and leave him "alone" (that and excited and still running on adrenaline) so we took turns staying up with him. He didn't really wake up much. Every time the nurses came in to check on us (they had to take our temp and blood pressure and check my lady bits and tummy) I was always awake just staring at my baby. They would chuckle and always ask if I wanted them to take him to the nursery so I could get some sleep. Nope. I was perfectly content staying awake for an eternity if that meant that I could be with him. (FYI - we're much better about sleeping when he sleeps now. LOL)
First Bath - September 7th
We have a video of this, but it's like 7 minutes long and its basically the nurse giving us instructions on how to bathe him.
First Diaper - September 7th
No photo for this one. It was pretty yucky. It's like tar and refuses to come off of the bottom. We were having trouble getting it off just by wiping and so we called the nurses to get some wipes, and they don't have them at the hospital! Wish I would have known that ahead of time. They just give you gauze and tell you to wipe it with warm water. Poor baby, we were scrubbing his butt. Within a few days, and my milk came in, it turned into mustard, seedy, grainy, brownish-yellow mustard. Not really stinky though! I've been told (and read) that the real stink doesn't show up until he starts to eat solids.
First time nursing - September 7th 2010
(he's under there nursing)
The lactation consultant met with me for what seemed like 2 hours. She was so nice and really made sure I was well equipped with as much knowledge as possible. She was very passionate about breastfeeding and was really encouraging.
