First airplane ride!!
He was his usual self. Only fussed a little when he was hungry. Slept trough one of the worst landings I've even been through. (not gradual at all. Plopped the plane down way to fast... Scared the bajesus out of me!)
I nursed him for take off and he pretty much slept the rest.
People were giving me the dirtiest looks though!!! When we were boarding, I could see it written all over their faces! "you better not be sitting next to me with that screaming baby!"
I was so glad he proved them wrong. :) my little sweetheart!

7 weeks!!
Weight? 15 pounds
Height? dunno
Development:
Your baby can now see more detailed colors and designs; he can also perceive things in three dimensions.
Babies' eyes start to work together better this week; this helps them focus.
Most babies this age are starting to be awake at times when they’re not eating. They enjoy hearing and seeing new things with their “extra” time but may easily become overwhelmed.
Sleep? He’s started sleeping through the night. The past few nights he was asleep by 10:30 and he didn’t wake up until 6. I think anything over 6 hours straight is sleeping through the night. That was over 7!
Number of Diapers Changed? 512
Best Moment This Week: He definitely recognizes his mama! He smiles at me. Real smiles, not gas smiles. LOL
Favorite toy? his mama
Milestones: He’s now wearing some of his 6-month sized outfits. He’s growing so fast!! Gabe is especially excited because he can now wear his UM onesies.
Not so nice milestone... his first band-aid... I was clipping his nails and he pulled away and I caught the top of his finger... I felt bad. :(
Number of Times the Pediatrician was called? zero
Mama and Daddy? Daddy said “Crab hold.”
I think I’ll stop asking him what he wants to say on the blog….
I’m ok. Still not sleeping well…. I wake up because my boobs tell me it’s time to feed him in the middle of the night. They tell me by becoming especially painful. I have to pump the milk to get any relief, and then I’m awake and I lay there, awake… I have the Richko insomnia trait… It’s no bueno.
Speaking of my boobs… (now that we’re THAT close.) I had to buy new nursing bras and I have officially upgraded to an F cup. Ridiculous…
Hmm… what else… I can’t think straight, too tired. Sorry…
What’s coming up?/Looking forward to next? This weekend is THE weekend. Halloween!! Can’t wait to see my little mijo in his costumes (yes, plural) and for him to meet his best friend Ella!!! Yay!!!

6 weeks!
Weight? 13.5 pounds
Height? (shrug)
Development:
This week, babies are practicing their grip (it’s not just a reflex anymore) and starting to reach.
Your baby is becoming more expressive; in fact, she may have started practicing facial expressions - a lifetime of likes and dislikes awaits her.
Researchers have found that, all over the world, the amount of hours babies spend crying peaks at 6 weeks. Hang in there!
Is that a fact? The rhythms of your baby's breath and sucking change in response to unfamiliar sounds.
Sleep? He sleeps better than I do for some reason. I’m just not able to sleep well… He’s falling asleep around 9:30-10 and wakes up to eat around 4-4:30 and goes right back to sleep for another 3 hours or so. Not too bad!
Number of Diapers Changed? 446
Best Moment This Week: I was nursing him - he was completely awake and alert and staring at me (he stares a lot.) he pulled away, looked at me and smiled this huge gummy smile, and went back to eating. It was the best thing ever. J
Milestones: he has his first beauty mark/freckle/mole whatever you want to call it.
Number of Times the Pediatrician was called? We brought him in on Monday to double check on the congestion. They listened to his chest and everything was just fine.
I’m doing ok. Finding that there’s not enough time in the day, but learning how to manage. Loving every minute with my little man though. He makes everything worthwhile.
What’s coming up?/Looking forward to next? Halloween with my Jessie!!

First outing to a restaurant
Mom and I took baby to the local Irish pub for lunch :-) he was exactly how I thought he'd be, sleeping and when he woke up, he just sat quietly.
Then we took a drive to pick up daddy from the dentist. He got his tooth pulled, finally!
My check up went well. They were extremely upset that I didn't bring the baby. I honestly didn't even think about it. Oops!

5 weeks!
How old is baby? 5 weeks!!
Weight? just shy of 13 pounds
Height? not sure. Next appt in november
Development:
Your baby’s neck muscles are developing: She may be able to hold up her head when she’s in the baby carrier now.
• At this age, babies stay awake for longer during the day - as long as 10 hours - and their increased alertness may lead to overstimulation, which partly explains those crying jags.
• At some point over the next few weeks, infants' smiles become more social; your baby is smiling at you!
Sleep? good! The first round is usually just over 4 hours, provided he's swaddled nice and tight.
Number of Diapers Changed? 378 and counting...
Best Moment This Week: although disgusting, the projectile poop had me laughing for a while. :)
Favorite toy? he doesn't love the tummy time mat just yet... But I do. He makes the cutesy noises. :)
Milestones: not a happy one, but his first head cold. My babys all congested :( also, I had to go through all his clothes and take out the ones he's already out grown!
Number of Times the Pediatrician was called? I called once. I wanted to see if they recommended a humidifier before I went and bought one to help with his cold. They do. I'm not sure if it's helping but it could double for an ambient noise maker. That thing is loud...
Mama and Daddy? daddy is a pain in the ass and is just now making an appointment for his tooth that's been hurting him for a year. Motrin stopped working so the pain is waking him up at night. Welcome to mommy's world lol! (he doesn't get up for feedings)
I'm doing ok. I have my ob appointment tomorrow. Not super excited about it. It means birth control. I'm terrible at remembering to take it. We'll see what she recommends that's safe while breastfeeding. I hope it doesn't make me too hormonal!
What’s coming up?/Looking forward to next? Halloween!! I can't wait to see everyone up in NC! I still don't know what I'm going to be yet.
Weekly Photo:
I didn't like the paper towel roll. It was ugly. I'll put him on his tummy time mat each time. Hopefully you'll be able to see his growth that way.

My poor monkey
He's miserable. He even looks sick! His little eyes look sad.
Went out and bought saline spay for his nose and a humidifier for the room. He HATES the nose bulb but feels better after of course.
I've basically been keeping him in bed with me. I'm nursing him every chance I can. I figure we're supposed to drink lots of fluids so he should too.
Even sick, he's still such a good baby. We're so lucky.

Another first...
First case if the sniffles. :( my poor little monkey.
No cause to worry though. Just sniffles, no fever or any other symptoms. It started last night. (I should say early this morning.) He's acting like he's not even aware of it other than the loud snorting (more snorting than usual. Haha) I'm sucking them out with the nose bulb when it seems harder for him to breathe. Other than that, he's perfect. ;) but of course he is.
He had a great weekend. Nani visited yesterday and we played dress up, and granny and grandpa came today and took him for a walk.

walk in the park
today was so nice :-) (although it started pretty nasty with the projectile poop)
We took our first walk around the neighborhood. The weather was beautiful and he was fast asleep the whole time. The fresh air was nice after being cooped up in the house for four weeks!
I looked over at the park in the middle of our neighborhood (that I've seen a million times) but this time I thought about him when he's old enough to play and meet new friends here.

4 weeks! ONE MONTH!!!
Weight? At Monday’s appointment, he weighed in at 11 pounds 4 ounces. My little fatty!
Height? 22.5 inches
Development: (Taken from ivillage.com)
Your baby is one month old! Can you believe that just 4 weeks ago, he was still inside your tummy? In one month, he's grown from a tiny, helpless newborn into a not-quite-so-helpless baby. Sure, he still needs you to change his diapers, fill his tank and play with him, but he's definitely more aware today than he was on his birth day.
Most four-week-old babies turn toward familiar sounds (mom's voice being the favorite), gaze attentively at faces and may even start to smile. (Don't listen when everyone tells you it's "just gas.") Think of these early smiles—which often occur as baby drifts off to sleep—as a practice run. Your baby's neurological system is preparing for the not-so-distant day when he'll unleash a toothless grin in response to your smile.
Some babies also begin making breathy vowel sounds around now. Encourage your baby by talking back, singing or playing music. Pretty soon, he'll figure out that if he talks to you, you'll respond, and he'll try to keep the conversation going. Pay attention to his cues, though. If your baby turns away mid-conversation, he might be over-stimulated. Give him a break for a while.
Something else you might notice over the next couple of weeks: little pimply bumps all over your baby's face. Newborn babies retain some of their mothers' hormones, which can cause acne breakouts that might rival any teen's. In a few weeks, your hormones will flush out of his system and you'll see the silky smooth skin babies are famous for.
Sleep? actually getting better, we’re definitely finding our routine. Especially now that Daddy is really not available at night. Just me and my little man. We have an understanding… just because mommy isn’t talking to you during the night feedings like she does in the day time doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you the same, she just wants you to go right back to sleep… and honestly, she’s on the verge of sleep herself. He seems to get it. He really only fusses if he has a complaint. Usually if the diaper is dry, belly is full, gas has expelled (either up or down), and he’s nice and warm but not hot, he’s out like a light right away. We’re getting into the “between 3-4 hours” stretch. Hopefully it’ll keep increasing.
Number of Diapers Changed? 291... Just kidding, I changed 2 more since I started writing this… 293
Best Moment This Week: Seeing Stephanie and Flo. We miss them SO much it’s crazy. It was awesome that they got to meet their nephew and snuggle him for a little. They’re coming back for Christmas and so is Simone and Carlos!! I can’t wait!!
Favorite toy? For my birthday, Gayle got me this awesome kit to have a mommy and me type thing at home. It’s called Time to Play Baby - this morning monkey and I did the first class. I think I loved it more than him. He also had hiccups at the moment, but he seemed to really enjoy it. His favorite part was the fish rattle. He watched it the whole time we played with it. So cute. I sang to him (itsy bitsy spider, the ants go marching, and twinkle twinkle little star, what else?!) while tickling and making goofy faces. It was fun. As we keep doing it, he’s supposed to react more and more. I can’t wait until he giggles.
Milestones: he’s now in size 1 diapers. He’s no longer a newborn. (tear) my baby is growing so fast!!
Number of Times the Pediatrician was called? Zero! But while we saw her on Monday the only question I had was really about me again. I’ve been feeling extremely run down lately and had a sore throat Thursday and just icky since then. My right eye is completely bloodshot and there’s a ton of pressure behind it. Like migraine type headache. I just wanted to know if I could keep breastfeeding while sick if I ended up really getting bad. The answer: basically, never stop breastfeeding. LOL I was relieved again. I don’t want to stop.
Mama and Daddy? Daddy went back to work on Monday and it seems as though they really couldn’t wait! He’s been working late every night. They also decided to just throw him a crap schedule simply because he wasn’t there to defend himself. So much for an adjustment period… oh well. I’ve said it over and over, he loves his job, and thank God because this would be so much harder on him if he hated it. I’m more upset for him than he is. At least he gets to sleep through the night though.
Mama is doing ok. Aside from my failing health lol. I know it’s just from the lack of sleep and it’ll get better with time. I’m back to my pre-pregnancy weight, although I cannot stop eating. It’s from breastfeeding. It makes me STARVING all the time. I’m not kidding, starving! I’m trying to eat healthier foods but I’ll take what I can get right now. If the munchkin is feeling up to it, I’m going to take him out for a walk. I have the stroller all set up for him. I’m going to try to walk as much as possible with him. I’d like to lose weight, and dieting is not an option while breastfeeding. My belly feels exactly how I thought it would. Smooshy. Creeps me out. It must go. Lol
What’s coming up?/Looking forward to next? nothing really this week. Last night I got our tickets to go visit Jess, Ryan, and Ella for Halloween! That should be a lot of fun! I’m really excited!
Weekly Photo:
I know it's weird, but I put a paper towel roll in the photo to gauge how big he is. I couldn't think of anything better. LOL

Birth Day Videos
There are SO many more, but I reached my upload limit for today. I'll put some more up soon.
Don't worry, Beck was the videographer and did an amazing job not showing things that shouldn't be shown. It's all PG. :-)
